Florida hosts it’s second straight home game to begin the 2026 season, welcoming the Campbell Camels. Campbell is a small private Christian school in North Carolina, and are playing far above their class this week.
The Gators should be able to trace out to a big lead in the 1st half, then empty the bench throughout the 2nd half to rest the starters while giving the backups and younger players some live reps. The only question will be how soon the starters get pulled from the game. I don’t expect anything schematically on either offense or defense other than the most basic and vanilla game plan. The focus should be mostly on repetition, timing, and sound blocking and tackling. The Gators will have an overwhelming advantage across the board in talent, depth, and speed. Apologies for the short preview, but there really isn’t much to analyze or discuss in any detail – it’s that large of a mismatch.
The only question for the Camels will be one hump, er…..lump, or two? These Christians are definitely being thrown to the Lions, er…..Gators, and hopefully are getting a large paycheck for the pain that will be administered. As always in a glorified scrimmage like this, my biggest wish is……NO INJURIES. Things start to get very real for Florida next week.
Prediction:
Florida 59
Campbell 6
